I have a 8 month old Volvo Penta D6 400. The docs don't say much about the electrical system. Access to the alternator without removing it is hard and I can find no trace of a part number without removing it. I assume it is a standard VP item on this engine. Does anyone here know:
a) Does the alternator provide its own regulation, or is there a separate regulator? I am struggling to identify it. If so, where is it?
and
b) Currently I am using circa 500AH of flooded wet batteries. If I were to change to AGM batteries is there an adjustment I can make somewhere to modify the voltage supplied appropriately? Do I have to change a component or re set a dip switch for instance?
Thanks.
