If it's the MD2030 one it's a standard pump but cunningly modified for Volvo to prevent you going direct to the manufacturer.

Because it's run off a gear the casting and the shaft are different. The standard pump is pulley driven.

From memory the standard pump is less than half the price.

All of the pumps I mentioned are gear driven although the gear is not included in the part no 3593655.

Your pump details here http://www.marinepartseurope.com/en/volvo-penta-explodedview-7746500-26-8344.aspx

The part no. is the same for MD 2040/ MD2030 and also a Perkins Perama M40 will fit. If you spend time in Italy there is a Perkins main dealer who often has cut price deals here http://www.omniged.com/acaroli/acatalogues/perkins_spare_parts.asp?id=130

Just thought I would add I have not dealt with this company so unknown recommendation.
Thanks for that parbuckie , I do have the part number that isn't the problem , it the price VP wants for it is the problem , there must be somewhere you can buy one at a reasonable price , 600 is out and out robber .

Did you read my link 280 euros thats under £240 . If you know what other engines use the same pump then can often find a cheaper deal even though they are jabsco or johnson manufacturers.

Don't know where your "600" comes from. £351 (inc VAT) from Keyparts.

Yes it does look the same , still can't understand why it cost that much

Because it is for a marine engine so not really mass produced enough although the mark up is probably enormous us yachties are rich pickings . I suppose if you are in the Med then your engine is racking up some hours but I would have thought bearing and seal renewal would be sufficient unless you need to change it in a hurry.

I had to replace my seals twice now and it not a DIY job , last time I thought the guy was going to demolish the pump has he pressed them out . I was glade I didn't tackle the job myself .

Wise move to buy a spare pump from Keyparts and then when one fails you can replace it and get the old one repaired at your leisure. Think you will find that the £350 or so is comparable to new pumps for other brands of engines of similar size.
