Volvo D2 50 on start, revs vary up/down and engine vibrates loudly, once starts it may run and then stop. If run for a few mins it runs perfectly.

Volvo D2 50 on start, revs vary up/down and engine vibrates loudly, once starts it may run and then stop. If run for a few mins it runs perfectly.

Note, it has been 3 months since last run, I'm assuming fuel? Once starts, the revs vary from 700 on idle up to 1000 down to stall. If in neutral at 2000 revs it fluctuates for about 5 mins then seems to stablise and runs ok.

Sounds like air getting into the fuel system, if it only does it when the engine hasn't been started for a while.
