The "standard" engine control panel for my VP 2002 appears to be defective. The oil pressure and temperature alarms don't work. Initial diagnosis (pressing the test button) found that the alarm was defective so I replaced it. It now works with the test button but not when the oil pressure is low. I've eliminated any problems with the sensors by earthing the connections directly - still no alarm.
I've buzzed-out all the wiring on the engine, loom and behind the panel and the continuity is fine. So the problem appears to be isolated to the sealed unit that contains the electronics behind the warning lamps. I've asked Keyparts for a quote on this item but I don't suppose it's going to be cheap.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and did they solve it at reasonable cost?
