According to the Volvo sevice schedule D12's need to have the valve clearances checked at 150 hrs...or not coz it should be done @ 200 hours or not coz it should be done @ 400hours maybe even every year???

This info has come from the hand book, Volvo Spain, Volvo Uk, & Motortech.
Now knowing things mechanical and that most marine diesel engines are under constant load for most of the time they are in use, the D12 truck engine of which I believe this is a deritive, only needs valve clearances checked @ 2000 hrs! (variable loads etc).

Can anyone / does anyone know what the real story is? Engines out of warranty now so any deviation from the prescribed schedule will have no ill effect.

jfm any views as you have similar?

I had the same issue with a car.

The usa service book was over double the miles between services when compared to the UK service intervals. How can that be I thought we are in a temporate climate - no Alaska / Canada chill nor Arizona heat nor Florida humidity etc etc

Rip off Britain I'm afraid!
