To the complete novice what does IMHO, BTW FWIW and NWGOI mean???

Following on from recent post can anyone offer some equivalents to oil and fuel filters from the car brigade, ie Halfords. Engines are VP AQ205. I spent most of today in and out of car factors trying to get cross ref but couldn't get anywhere.

Cheers
Kevin

imho = ingest muffins hot often

I have all the VP filters on a file with cross reference to the non genuine ones I can supply to anyone, I will have a look for you when I get in the office, tell me what you want.

Paul,
I'm looking for cross references for oil and fuel filters for the 4.3 ltr AQ205's. I've already worked out spark plugs etc so thanks.

Re:outrageous suggestion

why not go to your local dealer and buy the genuine article how much has your time cost you?
you might even find that you dealer might be able to answer some of basic questions that get asked here every other week

Re:outrageous suggestion

Only reason I buy (genuine) filters is, that I'm to disorganised to sort it out and do the job properly. And the fact that being 310 miles away from boat, makes it impractible to do the job myself. If fram or other filters are good enough for Ford, BMW and all the rest, there good enough for volvo, infact they may well be the same. In My Humble Opinion.

No one can force me to come here-----------

Hi Kevin,

Welcome to the list, the letters are Net short form for common phrases...

IMHO - In my humble opinion
NHAMO - Nothing Humble about my opinion
BTW - By the way
FWIW - For what it's worth
NWGOI - No warranty given or implied (but I think I'm the only one who uses it)

Can't help you on the filters...

Barry

The correct phraseology is "Are we insured..." NOT "Were we insured"
(IMHO, BTW FWIW and NWGOI)

try keypart in watford www.keypart.com - cheap, and good service - just phone them if you have a query.

I've used them in the past, but now I have a new disel engine and a warrenty to maintain it's the expensive volvo bits for me :-(

good luck

PS x ref parts can be found the the latest volvo catalogue

From what I see on the piston broke, post on the motorboaties, volvo warranties' aren't up to much! Have you read it?

I may be wrong but, if the grey matter serves, the 4.3 block you have is the same block that ford use in thier explorer. How volvlo can call it a volvo when its a ford is beyond me, Also I'm sure its the same block that Mercury use for their 190hp. If I'm wrong then I'm sure some one will say so!

I understand the aq205 is based on the gm block originally used in pickup trucks and it is a widespread practice to use an established base unit to marinise using their own manifolds ignition and transmission as the cost of producing relatively low number of dedicated in house units is prohibitive.
Badge engineering is a recognized practice and whilst Yanmar uses a Mercruiser drive it is still accepted as a Yanmar
Ford & Rover have use Peugeot based engines for various cars and they are still called Ford /Rover
What is Galaxy/ VW Sharon /Seat people carrier

if it ever comes to it "wait till they get a load of me"... I'm the guy that got several grand out of an insurance compnay for frost damage. It's just knowing your facts, throughing back at them any crap they give you and never giving up - they pay you to go away in the end IMHO

You can't beat a good fight with an insurance compnay.

Ford own Volvo, Mazda, Lincoln, Mercury, Jaguar, Aston Martin. Did I forget any?
