Hi,

anyone know what the difference is between the two?

apart from the obvious displacement... stroke?... bore??

i'm looking to rebuild one for a small sports boat.

also, are the cylinder heads the same on the AQ130 as the B20 in the 144/5 volvo's?

thanks already,

steve.

Hi Steve, I have an aq130d/B20 not sure about the differences between that and the B18, however I am sure the head is and possibly one of the only things different between the auto version.
Below is a link to the volvo site where you can download info about all volvo aq engines, just need to know if its a 130 a,b,c or d.

The next link is to where you can download the owners manual for the engine, just select which model in the drop down box at the bottom.

These engines are so basic its fantastic, just put my head back on after renewing the valves, and found out I had to renew the starter but she's up and running now. For parts I use keypart, the stuff is good and normally comes next day.
Good luck /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

thanks guy, i'm looking to rebuild the one i have, but there was a B18 on ebay, just wondered if it was a sensible idea to rebuild that one and just swap them out.

Brian, i'll PM you regarding spares.

thanks again for the linx Neil.

Do you still have the AQ110 Volvo Penta head for sale or know where I can get one? I have a NOS car head which is not suited. This is for sale. See attached. Must find a boat head.

You need to get hold of the paper parts books to be certain but I think that the valve gear may be different to the automotive ones as the marine units were more highly tuned as standard
not being funny but the easiest way to tell between B18/20 is the Bnumber on the block

Can anyone help find a suitable drive to fit to my boat with a B18 engine? I am told a 270 drive can be adapted to fit also an SX Penta drive may work. Does anyone have a good used drive?

is it just the drive you need or the whole thing including the transom shield, bell housing and drive plate

Good morning Freebee. I dead would be a serviced 110 or 100 complete leg to bolt on to my shield and transom. If you are talking about a 270 it shall need to be a full kit-leg, shield, bell housing and plate yes. What do you have and where are you based? Jeremy

I don't have any parts I did have a 270 which is now sold and I got told the bell housing and drive plates are hard to get hold of now. If you need every part to fit to your flywheel you could adapt almost any drive bell housing to fit your engine, with an adaptor plate just like they do for engine gearbox swaps on cars.

also don,t forget to write your requirements in teh wanted section of this forum.. and also in facebook: Facebook Groups
