Volvo AQ260B (1986)

I am lifting my boat out in the next few weeks to get started on the winter work.
I have a problem on the big red block in the engine bay, it has'nt stopped me using it.I can cruise no problem up to 2500 to 3000 rpm but after
this, it misfires and loses power, pull it back to 2500rpm and no problem. I am guessing its electric ie plug leads or ht coil but not sure .
Any ideas, other than this she is running fine.Max revs for cruising is 4200rpm according to the specs. There is 700 hrs on clock.
I also intend doing the seals on the outdrive 280 leg any probs I should watch for .
Thanks for any help.

Re: Volvo AQ260B (1986)

could be ignition and I'd certainly check plugs, points (if it 'as 'em) leads dizzy cap etc. These get a hard life on V8's because they are so close to the exhaust.
The other thought if it has a 4 barrel carb is this is the point where the secondaries open so it could feasibly be a blocked jet in the second stage. I'll have a look in the manual tonight.
I see from your profile you're in Ireland otherwise I'd offer to have a look, unless you wish to pay my flights etc!
