Hi, I have recently bought and purchased a boat with a pair of Volvo AQ140 petrol engines. On launching her, one of the fresh water pumps has blown. I have been told that it is identical to a car part on a B21 (2.1L) engine which was fitted on some older 300 or 200 series Volvo's. I have searched a couple of car part dealers who have come up with a pump for a B21 engine which is almost identical but the outlet is different. I was rather hoping the £20 car part would be o.k. rather than the £160 boat part. So in short...does anyone know if there is a car part that can be used or failing that where I can get sensibly priced volvo penta ( not necessarily genuine ) parts from..??? Thanks Iain

will it matter if the outlet is slightly different, as in can you get a hose to fit? If you can, shouldnt be a problem.

Mike, the bearing has gone causing rattling and loss of water....I've now been told that it might be able to be reconditioned but I really want to get her back on the water as soon as possible...

Colin, hi, unfortunately it does matter about the outlet because on the boat there is no hose it just mates direct into the heat exchanger....

Chrissy, thanks have contacted keypart, very helpful but still £150 with vat and postage. It looks like I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and pay the marine cost which grates a bit at over 7 times the price of an almost identical car part....I know boat bits are expensive but thats outrageous!! thanks for your help anyway...Iain
