Just a quick question.
Ive recently replaced an exhaust elbow on my starboard engine (along with half the copper cooling pipework, water pump, rubber hoses, and flushed and rodded heat ex and oil cooler to fix an overheating problem) as the flow through the leg and tell tale squirty thing was down by around half. Looking at it now it does seem quite coked up inside and the hole for the tell-tale is obstructed by around 30% .
So now the starboard engine is brilliant again (full road-test this Fri or Sat, once everyone has buggered off after Cowes week coz I get a bit nervy with all them expensive boats out there) but I am thinking it wont be long before the other side needs replacing. Is it worth having the old one shot blasted or acid dipped or something like that. New one is around £250 whereas shot blast is around £25. It would just save me having to explain another Volspec invoice to the missus as she's been focussing in on my boating expenses lately whereas I could mug the kids (I call it pocket money recycling) for the £25 and no one would be any the wiser.
