Volvo AD31DP /DP-E drive tilt sensor

Can anyone advise me on what meter checks I can make on the tilt sensor cables (3 off) of my DP-E transmission. No information reaches the helm gauge. I cannot get the thing out of its location because whoever fitted the drive left insufficient room in the transom above the sensor to lift it out. So if it is US, God only knows what I do about it!

This wont help you yet, but if the sensor recons the drive is out of range it stops the pump.
In other words you have to set the new one up just right else it wont go all the way up, or down, guess how i know ...

You may have to take bits of the engine to access the sensor, crazy i know.

Thanks for your interest Simon. Problem is I cannot remove sensor, seems the boat was built around the engines. Gauge reads a permanent -7
