Sounds like your coolant needs changing .

Rydlyme flushes the saltwater side of the engine especially the coolers, rig up a small pump pull from a large box or drum of Rydlyme mix, remove impeller and flush through seawater engine intake and return from the seawater feed to injection bend nack to the drum and run through each engine for an hour, do not run engine during this the pump will circulate this.

best solution is to strip all the coolers on the affected engine. Its quite easy on a 63P then you can clean and inspect all the bits. Black water sounds a bit nasty - this is definitely in the fresh water side not the antifreeze side?

hiya, I wondered how much a Volvo 63 p costs to service and do valve clearances ?
also anyone recommend a product to flush the fresh water side of the engine ?
thanks
heather and steve

Steve,
next time you see me, grab me and I'll talk you through it.....
also drop of the exhaust elbow after the turbo, there a "spray matrix" that's more than likely gunked up that could retrisct the raw (sea) water side.

I replaced my water injection bends in my exhausts this year because the bend between the turbocharger and the injection bend on one engine corroded through after 12 years.

When i saw the condition of the inside of the injection bends from a corrosion point of view and the reduction in the passages for the water to spray through by probably two thirds and the general crappy state of them i decided to replace the injection bends as well.
