Help! I have a sunseeker mohawk 29 with twin Volvo AD41's and 290DP drives. Last winter I had the cones re-seated (??) because forward or astern would not engage at idle or low revs. Great fun in the marina especially with race controls. They have been fine until last weekend when after a day of idling round the harbour, the port drive is doing it again. My local Volvo dealer say there is nothing more they can do and they cannot even get the parts anymore. They suggest new drives!!! any suggestions. Paul

You need "Super Col" who is another forumite on here and is very knowledgeable with AD41's and 290 drives. You dont say where you are but Col is Hamble way and may not be close to PC at the mo as he's currently swapping his AD41's for KAD42's

if the gearsets which include the female parts for the cones are worn then
yes you need gearsets plus cone and dogs cost abou 1100. plus labour
or
excange top unit about 1600 + some labour
exchange drive about 2500+ less labour

so rather than fit new parts to top box then exchange topbox may well make sense
