The hexagon socket bolt that clamps the steering arm to the shaft on my drive is well corroded and will not shift. Do I cut the bolt at the head, or through the slit in the arm?
I would try soaking it in wd40 for a few days first and then see if it will yield. Failing that I would cut the bolt in the slit to prevent damage to the steering arm. Also from memory there is a grub screw on the left side of the arm that prevents the arm dropping out that needs to be undone too. Good luck /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
You often cannot get the grub screw out, if its a 41 or kad series engine you can remove parts of the engine, turbo etc and get in with a good quality cordless drill and drill out the grub screw.
Remove the arm if its solid drive 2 chisels or metal wedges between the steering hood and transom shield, that will drive down the hood off the arm, dont go mad with too much hammer though as the hood is alloy.
