My boat has twin Volvo AQ130 / 270 drive set up, when I bought the boat the engines were not running & the outdrives had some parts missing.

I am ready to connect the shift cables to the outdrives, but dont really know how to do it. I know the cable runs through a hose out the outdrive shield, but not sure how the cable is held in position?

Can anyone help me?

Many Thanks,
Louis

" not sure how the cable is held"

When the cable exits the transom shield it enters a hole in the casting at the rear of the outdrive and comes out at the front adjacent to the shift mechanism arm.At the very end of the shift cable should be a stainless steel collet which has a slot in it.A small stainless plate slides into the slot in the collet and locks the cable in position when you engage forward or reverse. It is held in position (the plate) by two 10mm bolts, which by the way are a real ***** to get into threaded holes in outdrive casing. :)
