Have found serious corrosion mainly from the inside of the large tube part of the housing in a 14 year old circulation pump (cooling jacket always filled with Volvo coolant) - appeared initially as weeping through the metal but on further cleaning and removal of corroded material ended up with three separate holes each about 6mm to 8mm in diameter which I now plan to repair with suitable high temperature epoxy paste as new pump >£300 !
Can anyone advise likely cause of such severe corrosion, how to prevent and whether this is an indicator of other hidden problems that I should investigate?
Only had the boat - a Starlight 39 for 2 x years but history indicates careful maintenance.
