Our Volvo 2030 has high rise exhaust elbow as shown.

We can blow through it ok through exhaust manifold connection or through water injection connection, but, fair build up of deposits in section attaching to exhaust hose.

Any suggestions on how to remove deposits?

Any practical alternative to Volvo high rise exhaust as to replace new from Volvo is c£ 900. Ouch.

I have just cleaned mine from VP2003 with white vinegar. 10 ltrs in a bucket for 3 days and whilst not as bad as yours, it came clean really well. As a bonus, no more oily stains on the water at start up either. Good luck

Mine was completely blocked, but had less deposit as you show in picture 2. I couldn't find a high riser exhaust on Parts 4 engines, and got it from Volvo agent in Falmouth. I tried unblocking it with various chemicals, didn't work, but glad replaced it now, as all okay with the cooling system. It was obvious from the new PTFE tape on the access bolts that it had been unblocked before, so didn't last long. My boat had been unused for 3-4 years before I bought it, so that may have made it worse.
