Hello. My brother is looking to buy a yacht with the above engine that is currently on a hard stand. A survey is planned but will be limited in terms of checking the engine. My brother is thinking of asking an engineer to come and do a compression test on the engine but wondered what PSI to expect, and whether parts are plentiful for this type of engine in case there are problems. There's water available for any testing. Are there any other things he should be checking on? Can the gear-box for instance be operated on the hard stand without damaging the prop seal?
