Having eliminated the front cover, inlet and outlet connections, it would appear that the seal at the rear of the impeller housing is leaking and, presumably, in need of replacement. Would anybody be happy to share their experience of this job?

The engine has done 750 hours and is 9 years old. Any guidance/suggestions welcome.

I replaced the seals on my 2002 a month back using basic tools onboard. You need to remove the whole pump to do this.
There are a couple of circlips to remove (the trickiest bit)which stop the bearings from coming out, apart from that it is a doddle.
There are two identical seals, one for the engine side and one for the water, just make sure you put them back in the right way round.

Have fun!
