I have just fitted one and will be hooking up to a Volvo AQAD41/200hp in the next weeks. I paid £300 for a quality calorifier. On the 41 volvo you connect into the thermostat housing. You can find details on www.boatdiesel.com Worth becoming a member (cost less than half an hour of volvo engineer). If have just ordered the thermostat to stop the engine heating up more slowly howeven some engineer say this is not neccesary on large engines.
Just remembered: the heating coil/ calorifier must not be above the level of the expansion tank on the volvo to avaid airbubbles.
Also, on outlet on the thermostat housing is in, the other out see boatdiesel site for details. You need to drain +/- 5ltrs of coolant to change the thermostats so I expect the same to connect heater. Fit valves for easier service.
