Cold starting...

Select neutral and put throttle lever to full position. Pull out the engine stop control and then push it back in. Then operate starter motor. Throttle back as soon as engine fires.

For lubrication use Duckams Keenol grease and as for how often it depends on the usage normally if running constantly every couple of hours, but definately screw it down when finished with the boat just before leaving.

Re: Cold starting...

DK,

As previous posting but I turn the engine over for 10 - 15 secs if it does not fire, then I let it stand for 30 secs it usually then immediatly starts on the second attempt. I think the oil in the bore settles onto the piston rings and this improves the compression on the second attempt. What the hell it works!.
Note mine is the 2002 engine which is probably more difficult to cold start than the Volvo 2003.

Hope this works for you.
Trevor.

Cold starting has been dealt with, but stern gland lubrication depends what type its fitted with, mine is a Volvo 2003 and the gland is a Volvo deep water gland, they only need greasing two or three times a season and there is no packing.
