Volvo 2003 fuel filter

Hello:

Can anyone tell me what the micron rating is of the Volvo 2003 fuel filter
that mounts on the front of the engine? I have found a much cheaper
replacement with a good reputation. However, I would like to make sure
that the micron rating is the same. Thanks.

don't let them take the piss, if it's made to filter diesel it's ok for you. anything over a cetain size that can damage a pump or injectors should be filtered out by any fuel filter sold in this country. your volvo part number should cross reference with coopers etc, and more than likely save you coin on your servicing. same with oil filters, you never know, you may be able to do more oil changes with the money you save on branded filters etc. <G>

I was recommended by Sabre Diesels(Perkins) to have 2 micron filter on the filter on the engine and 20/30 micron on the Pre-filter/water seperator. I suspect most engine filters will be 2 micron.
