I'm trying to find out if my boat will be over propped if I fit a 16 X 11 folding prop.
If you have the same engine, Volvo 2002, what size is your prop.
Thanks

I have a Northshore 33 fractional rig yacht with a Volvo 2002 and the prop is 16 X 11. No problem with the prop size and engine performance. Max speed under power is just on 7 knots but is more comfortable noise wise at around 6 knots
I am about to remove the current prop which is terribly worn on blade stops, blades fold about 20 - 30 degrees past mid point, and replace with exactly same prop. (second hand but in very good condition). Ahh the joys of slipping!

Trouble is my boats a cat which none of this sizing software seems to cater for. Current props, both knackered are 15X9 but I already have one 16X11 so would only have to buy one prop if this size is suitable.

I've got an Etap30 and reproped 2 years ago due to a clapped out 2 bladed folding prop which was 16x9. I then tried a 16x11, too course, ended up with a 16x10, just right me thinks.

It depends upon the ratio of your gearbox. Most 2002s have a 2.2 to 1 reduction gear but others are 3 to 1. My 2002 (3 to 1) has a 17/11 prop which works well. Your gearbox will have an identification plate just behind the oil filler.
