I am in the process of re-assembling my VP 2002 and have run into a snag regarding the injector pumps. The manual refers to these being shimmed according to the numbers stamped on the pumps and on the block. However, neither the pumps not the block appear to have any such numbers. As previously assembled, there were what appear to me to be just ordinary gaskets. Have things changed ? (The pumps are Bosch - I don't have any part numbers to hand.) Please can anyone offer any advice on this?

the (gaskets) were the shims and they are esential
you have to do it by the book
you need the workshop manual which has all the settings
the timing of the pumps is varied by the shimming
