Ive got a Volvo 2001 withsaildrive. Its a 1989 unit and although it had little use with the previous owner in the last six years Ive had more use from it.
Until this summer it consistantly used just under a litre per hour. Suddenly this summer fuel consumption has jumped to 1.5 litres per hour.
I have always done the routine annual oil change, fuel and oil filters.
Should I be looking at a more extensive service? Any ideas? I probably run about 60 hours per season.

Some, but no more than usual. I was suspecting clogged air filter as I seem to have omitted this from annual servicing.

Sorry, I have no answers to your questions but I wondered if you had or had heard of any English manuals etc for the 2001 in PDF or some other format? I have a 2001 from 1986 but unfortunately the maintanence book is in Swedish....

I have had the same problem with bad starting also. I removed my injectors yesterday, and have been informed this morning that two of them are in bad condition could quite easily have caused the poor starting and the high fuel consumption. I will let you know the results as soon as I get them back later this week I hope.
