Dabchick normally visits Poole early in the season where Mrs chubby takes up residence in the Hotel du Vin and Dabchick in the boat haven: not cheap but suits us.

This year the week we had in mind, first week of June is just before the Poole boat show at PQBH.

So how big an event is that? does it take up the whole PQBH or is there still room for visitors down the far end on C or D? What about alternatives like Poole YC or even Redcliffe YC and Wareham: the ideal is boat and hotel in walking distance with nice eateries.

Probably best to give Poole Harbour Commissioners a call and ask whether they are taking visitors during the boat show. They have two marinas, one close to the ferry terminal, so may be able to fit you in.

Otherwise, Poole YC, Parkstone YC and Salterns Marina all accept visitors, according to availability of berths. Poole YC Is the closest to the Quay, (but the walk all a bit industrial as you walk through the docks), then Parkstone, and Salterns. It’s a nice walk from Parkstone YC to the Quay.
