Looking for a bit of advice on potentially visiting Cowes week next weekend. It'll be me and some of the lads who are generally non-sailors. Questions as follows:

1-Getting a berth. After RTIR for the last 10 years I've never booked, but always been able to get in at the Folly, in boats up to 45'. If I just turn up in a 32', will we get in somewhere? As per RTIR I expect the town marinas will be full, but are we likely to be able to get in at the Folly? Are prices sensible or are they massively hiked? Is there a water taxi?

2-Fireworks. Be good to see them...I've never done it. Is it best on the water? I appreciate it might be a bit chaotic close in, but I assume we can get a good view if we stand well off still?

3-Race Village. During RTIR anyone can get in, obviously there's no entry ticket or fee required. Is it the same for the Cowes week entertainments in the Yacht Haven...bar and main stage?

Any other tips would be great...thanks in advance.

As far as I know... (not doing Cowes this year...)

1. Folly should be no busier than normal. No racers berth up there. No idea re pricing or water taxis.
2. On the water is good, but stressful. My advice would be to anchor up off the green well before time and not plan to leave until an hour after the fireworks. There are ribs to tell you where you can and cannot anchor. Mostly to avoid obstructing the view from the squadron....
3. Free to enter as far as I'm aware.

Indeed. And with our "early bath" at this years RTIR, all I remember was that Blonde Bombshell were brilliant! Way too much drinking time!
