If visiting Burnham by water, are there options other than going into the Marina? Buoys to pick up? I guess anchoring is off as it's pretty chocker with moorings.
Mike,
you can pick up a free Rice & Cole mooring. Thats up the sea end of Burnham, also you can use the water taxi on M1 (Rice&Cole)during day, who will also tell you where to go if the mooring is expecting its owner back.
Next you can go to Royal Corinthian, wo also have a boat running (Royal Corinthian Launch) on M1 for a fiver a night.
Dont know about Priors, the BYH or Essex Marina Swingers.
If you go down just past the Baltic Wharf, close to Fairway 15, and opposite the Creeksea Ferry Inn, there is anchorage there, about 05-0.6 miles past BYH, but on the North Shore. The CreekseaFerry Inn has a slip, so you land for a meal and a pint.
The Rice & Cole morrings finish about 50m past the Rice & Cole pontoon, marked with the small white office/house onshore.
The real way to tell is if Peter comes out demanding a fiver on the RCYC launch!
Unfortunately all the buoys have an R and a C on them somewhere.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
had a good sail down to from fambridge last weekend picked up a rice & cole mooring seemed to be plenty free, went ashore to RCYC had a cpl of pints of the black stuff then onto to the anchor for another then to the star for food and more black stuff (food ok not a great selection) then had to stop at RCYC bar on the way back due to heavy down pour (didnt really need an excuse) very pleasent evening with some wine and cheese on the river followed by and early start back up with the tide and joy of joys the westerly from sat had turned southerly 3 to 4 for a great sail back very enjoyable.
PS didnt use the boatman as wernt sure when he would pack up but left the tender on the R&C jetty no probs
