I have been invited to crew on an Oyster that is coming back from the Caribbean. The owner wants to meet up in Bermuda. Do I need a visa or not for this? I am British and will be flying from London.

I hope someone can help?

according to noonsite (see link above) Visas are not required if any of the above are permanent residents of the UK, USA or Canada. if you enter on a one-way flight ticket you ma need a letter from the Captain to satisfy the airline and immigration folks

I joined one of the JST ships in Bermuda 10 years ago so I may be out of date. My flight was through New York and I found the US treat Bermuda as a local territory so I had to clear in to the US before getting on the Bermuda flight. That gives you two potential problems; making sure you use the US visa waiver system and ensuring the US know that you wont be clearing out of thier country again. I've not tested the latter as I've not been to the US since but I did try to return the relevant document via the flight crew on the plane I arrived on. Also check the local taxes on arrival in Bermuda, I seem to remember having to pay a cash entry fee.

EDIT: just remembered that I have a US B1/B2 visa now, applied for since the trip through NY. That was granted so perhaps I'm clear :)
