I'm appalled that you appear to have ignored virtual Mem and Arts clause 43.2 which specifically states that an AGM can only be called with 14 days notice to all members. I feel I need hardly point out that this gross act of disrespect for our virtual constitution is yet another example of things going to the dogs, broken homes etc. Please add an item on the AOB agenda calling for a motion of regret from members and a call for greater adherence to the rules, without which we would be in a state of total anarchy.

Or is this an EGM you're announcing (in which case 672.4 applies I think you'll find).

Treasurer's interim report:-

Whilst the club's facilities are slightly lacking, nevertheless, the opportunity to invest the club's cash in Cherbourg shower tokens at Euro 1 was taken and can report that they are now Euro 2; so, 100% profit.

You've clearly a sound grasp of the procedural process but I think you'll find that the 2003 EGM passed a special resolution (on which I felt driven to abstain) enabling Fellows, as opposed to Ordinary Members, to count as 100 when establishing whether a quorum exists. frankly, the whole thing now is a complete mess and I blame the overly ambitious Claymore for tinkering with a perfectly sound constitution which has served this august body for many er months.

I stand cowed bowed and corrected.
I feel I have no option but to offer to withdraw my nomination for the position of Hon Hospitality Sec.
I was aware of the 14 day rule but that would mean that the meeting would clash with Christmas and I felt that members would prefer to have this sorted before then.
I apologise for my unseemly haste and overambition. I was, I felt, acting in the interests of the members but can now see the error of my ways.

The Hon Sec handed me the AGM notifications, already in envelopes and correctly addressed over two months ago, and these were posted by myself in good time, so the AGM can proceed as notified.

In your 1135 post you used the word "christmas" would you please note that UK is a multicultural society and any references to a specific religions holiday is frowned upon. Please ensure that any future refernces are to the December festival. It is also not correct to use the term "new year " as different groups recognise other calenders.Any references to Turkey should also be removed in case this offends vegetarians. The term "Man overboard" should also be avoided as this is sex specific and for the same reason any references to buoys.

This really is not my day - apologies of course and my thanks to you for pointing out the errors of my ways so succinctly - how am I fixed for mentioning Morris Dancers?
