Hi all! A friend has asked me to find out where water is leaking into her Virgo Voyager and I have found that it is getting into the top of the starboard glazing panel. This is one continuous panel that covers all the window apertures in one go. It might be possible to bodge by applying external bead of sealant, but I'd like to know how to do the job properly, by removing the glazing panel and resealing. I need to know how it's put together. The cabin sides seem fairly thick, so I'm guessing sandwich construction? Foam or balsa? If balsa I can feel a can of worms approaching! Are the window screws just screwed into the cabin side, or are there nuts hidden on the inside which would require removal on interior lining? Is there someone on here who has done this job and can advise, or is there an owners association with a websit/forum where I can post this enquiry? Thanks.

Windows are just screwed to the cabin sides. So if you remove the screws it is better to fill the hole in the cabin side with some filler, then drill a new pilot hole and re-screw. That will tighten the window to the cabin side. All the screws on mine were loose when I bought it.

I had a slight leak, removed all the previous sealant round the edge, and replaced with new sealant. Also re-did all the screws and retightened. No leaks to date.

If you send an e-mail via the VOA web site below, an answer will be forthcoming.

My Virgo Voyager had a slight leak from the starboard window. I slightly tightened every screw and this was enough to stop it. 12 months on and it is still ok. I think that the screws should not be too tight, otherwise the plastic window will crack with expansion etc. but maybe the mastic beds down a bit over time. I do know that my windows had been replaced by the previous owner fairly recently. I would try this first before removing the window. Of course this is only my opinion.

Thanks all, that's a great help. I've posted to the owners forum just to confirm and get any additional advice. Cheers.
