Too small - not readable form cockpit.

Alarm too quiet - would not hear from a few feet let alone cockpit when sea/engine/sails are noisy

Stand alone - it won't it falls over.

Supposed to have been designed by yachtsmen - Armchair variety

All in all very disappointing am sending back.

The search for one that is easily read from the cockpit etc. etc. is back on

Forgive me but why do you need to read a barometer from the cockpit and why do you need an alarm on one?

IMHO the Vion electronic barometer is a reliable and accurate one. I have one onboard, and a second one at home...
I don't understand your spec /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I purcased the nasa barometer at the london boat show. It's a very professional piece of kit. It records up to seven days with half a millibar resolution. It's worth looking at. It's called meteoman and costs about 130 pounds. It doesn't have alarm though.

Well I suppose that's a fair question if obvious. Because I want to, same reason as I want to see position, speed, bearing, radar, time, wind direction and any other info. The alarm would be of interest in remote anchorages but is probably more SKS than anything else.

I can think of good reasons for wanting to see the other info you listed also depth and wind speed but not for barometric pressure and I don't think I have ever seen a cockpit repeater offered for a barometer.

If I found the barometer you are talking about on the Weathershop site it goods a nice instrument but if the display is smaller, the alarm is quieter or it falls over at a smaller angle of heel than specified then you have valid reasons to reject it . There seem to be loads to choose from but whether will find one that meets your requirements may be another matter.

No need for repeater I can see the old one from the cockpit and want to see the new one - is that ok. I was rather hoping someone would be able to say yes I have an electronic barometer that fits your bill not, you don't want thaaaat - what you want is... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I can of course stay with the old one but I don't want to. How ever thanks for your comments and I hope some one who knows a suitable barometer will reply but that may be another matter.
