Violant storm 11 has its advantages

Whats violant? A cross between violet and flatulant? (OK I know the a should be an e but that would wreck it)

I think that's a bit uncalled for, shouldn't gloat at anyone in trouble on the sea.

I do think though that our British fishing industry had been sacrificed to the EU god. Guess I the government thought fisherman were expendable and the industry could be bargained off against some other concession.

But dont forget, it wasnt all one way. We did swop the fishing industry, the coal industry and more recently Rover for imported ready to operate terrorist extremists on benifit payments. Now before you go have a go at your average extremist don't forget they have rights too!

Ive come across a few violent scots in my time though. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No... I think the environment make's the people that way, think about it, if you spend your life living on a beach in the South Pacific I guess you will be all kind and carm, just like the environment around you, if you live in an area where winter lasts for 13 months and daylight appears for only 2 days in that 13 months it tends to make you a little grumpy!!!!!

Paul.

Said that , the scenery is out of this world.

Yes it's great - Violent storm 11 has its advantages - just so a helicopter crew can go out to risk life and limb to rescue those in peril on the sea. I am stunned that an ex lifeboat coxswain could make such a comment. Perhaps the crew of the Stornoway Lifeboat would like to rebrief you since they were also tasked into 60ft waves and 60kt winds for the same casualty. Are you an "ex" lifeboatman because you let politics decide who you rescued?

As for your comments about the Scottish weather and how grumpy it makes you, if you can't stand it, leave.

I apologise for my sense of humour failure, but this too close to home to be funny - only goes to show you never know who reads this forum.

Rant over

There speaks someone ignorant of reality of the S Pacific. Maybe too much time watching celeb big brother on Bounty Island but the reality is no medical services, few utilities that are reliable, v. average food and a life expectancy of less than 50 years ( and that's on Fiji, one the most civilised islands). Nice place for a few stroppy jocks to have a holiday in though, as long as the booze holds out!

>> I am stunned that an ex lifeboat coxswain could make such a comment <<

nah, quite the opposite - if anyone has the right to joke about sea rescue its a lifeboatman.. you should hear the jokes that doctors make about death. Or more to the point, maybe you shouldnt.
