My boat will have a fresh coat of Awlgrip this coming summer (being applied now).
Does anyone have experience of applying vinyl stickers on a temporary basis on this coating when you want to remove them after a few weeks?
I want to add the boat name, but not take that off, but for a special event, want to add some writing on the hull, then remove after the event. Will it damage the coating?
I know what it does to fibreglass gelocat and how to deal with that, but any specific experience on new (but fully cured) Awlgrip?

You may still get problems when you come to remove the vinyl with UV fading the awlgrip at a different rates. Depends on how long the vinyl is to be applied for - oh and also whether we see any sun this summer.

Awlgrip's highly UV-resistant so shadowing shouldn't be as much of an issue as with gelcoat or many other paints. We've replaced vinyl lettering on our Awlgrip after they've been on for a couple of years (in the Med): no problem at all.

My boat which is permanently in the Med was painted with Awlgrip about 10 years ago. For as long as you do not polish the hull, as one does with gelcoat, and keep the paint clean with a soft brush and mild washing shampoo, the paintwork stays bright for very long time. Awlgrip once properly applied and correctly cured ( humidity and temperature) is pretty resilient and decals can be removed fairly easily. As you say you intent to remove the decals quickly so there is no question of the painting fading during this short period, but If you worry about it, it might be an idea to ask the Awlgrip suppliers and the people who applied it.
