Indeed "nothing like a piece of advertising" because it wasn't. It was a thorough recommendation. I have been taking my family and crew there for dinner for years! Most people haven't heard of it since it's not in the High Street. Just thought I'd share it!

Re: Villa Rothsay Hotel & Restaurant, Cowes

The food is nothing special and the building rather tired I would have said. How is it steeped in nautical history exactly?

I live in Cowes, but have never been in there so couldn't comment on the food/service, but views should be stunning given its location, loads of parking which is a plus for Cowes, and it's only 5-8 mins out of town, but it's not on a through route for footfall traffic which is majorly in it's favour as this means no noise on major sailing weekends. No I don't own it, but you have set me thinking about buying it!

I stay there on business, often, and can only sing the praises of the food though weight gain is a problem....

I would have thought that they were more of a hotel than a restaurant.

The views, as someone has already said, are stunning.

Loads of sailing memorabilia and the staff/owner are a credit to the trade.
