Some of you will know that I bought my little boat last year and put her on the water in March. I've been making short videos as I go along. In August I trailed Zephyr to Lac de Cazaux, just south of Bordeaux, for two weeks of blissful holiday.

Here is three and a half minutes of that two weeks, filmed on my Sanyo Xacti and edited on Windows Live Movie Maker. Many thanks to Dylan for getting me interested in this stuff, and to Halcyon Yachts for some tips.

What camera did you use?

Cheers,

I used a Sanyo Xacti as recommended by Dylan Winter, and subsequently by a number of others. It's pretty much point and shoot and runs to 1080, although I haven't saved this one at that level.

Yes. Nice vid and nice boat and nice weather.

I tried the 1080 setting on my DSLR and it made the computer work a bit too hard. No point really, unless you're doing a TV ad :D

(DSLRs are not camcorders and Xactis and the like will perform much better in the real world)

I wanna be there !!

absolutely, sublimely luverly! if only every sailing day was like that!

Overdub with 'Celtic Knots'?? no, not this time...the natural acoustic was perfect to capture the 'holiday' vibe..good steady camera work and loved the quirkiness of the underwater shots...good little camera the xacti. So why not use 1080 HD ? memory issues??

Made me envious ....but I loved it :¬)

I was quite keen to keep the natural sound and not add any music. I love sailing for the noise of the hull cutting through the water - why cover it up?
