The "Video of the Week" in the news section links onto the BBC, but when non UK computers link into it:

"We're sorry. The content you requested is available for UK users only"

What a load o [--word removed--]€!

I just spent the morning trying to find a London number via British telephone directories. Trouble is, you can't get through to them on these 118 numbers calling from abroad.

So I went to their website to find a number that would work calling from abroad. Couldn't find one. So I spent ages going round in circles trying dozens of internet directories that the Directories website sent me to all of which were trying to offer me phone cards, trying to make me post on telephone forums, cheap calls from abroad anything but bloody telling me what the bloody number is.

Eventually after nearly exploding and resorting to Google, I found the number... but they only list an 0870 number that I can't call from abroad...

Another half hour on Google brought me a normal switchboard number to get through on. Result!

But it would have saved me half a day if UK directories wasn't so bloody clever that it doesn't work /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

End of rant

Next time you have to call an 0870 or 0845 number, try this web site
http://www.saynoto0870.com

It was set up by someone who got p155ed off with paying premium rates for calling his bank, inland revenue etc.
This site gives the "normal" phone number for businesses and organisations that use 0870 and 0845 numbers as their contact number.
