Really interesting, especially as my wife worked for Posford Duvivier and they were taken over by Royal Haskoning. It's a fact that building anything becomes more difficult as regulations pile on regulations.

Very informative,thank you for posting.
I'm surprised that the fort legs are reinforced concrete but the shortage of steel is mentioned.Wonder how they achieved such quality in 1942 and made the mix and segment joints as waterproof as they must be.
