We've been putting together weekly video updates of our extensive refit. Last week we recorded how we laid the genoa track using butyl tape, a subject that's been discussed in this forum recently, so this may be of interest to some of you looking at alternatives to polyurethane adhesive sealants. It's the first feature in the clip after the intro and lasts eight minutes.

Great video, they look good workers, can you tell me what the hourly or daily rate they charge, will understand if you rather not, wanted a comparison with European yards.

It depends on the worker. A good carpenter will cost about £23 a day, whilst a general worker will cost a tenner. Some jobs can be done for a set price, like the painting and the electrics in our case but others only want a day rate. With the work we've done the carpenters are by far the most expensive cost.

What a brilliant and fascinating series of videos.

I've just spent the best part of today watching the series!

They're educational, informative and entertaining.

If Ray Mears ever loses his voice and needs a voice double you'd be a the top of the short list! :)

Keep up the good work.

Joiner would be a more appropriate term. A Carpenter is more constructional woodwork

Thank you, though I'd suggest Ray Mears is slightly more articulate and I bet he doesn't sweat in the tropics as much as I do either.

Hmmm, not sure the Thais differentiate. Here they're called 'chang mai', which just means 'carpenter'. Have to say most workers have a range of skills, so the carpenters can also fibreglass, spray etc.

Compared to Europe those charges are very attractive, and the work ethic, from the videos anyway seems to be very good, certainly huge savings to be made there. Good luck with it all.
