If you're interested in some Sunday viewing Liz and I put together a video clip (recorded in HD) of PSS Boatyard in Satun removing our two masts (complete with a bit of commentary from Liz for our non-sailing friends). Expertly executed by our project manager and all done in the space of two hours. The operator of the crane deserves brownie points for moving two masts from one end of the yard to the other.

Watched with interested. Nice to see the yard guys taking such good care; job done with a good degree of proficiency.
Good to know that the ubiquitous WD40 came to the rescue :)
Many thanks for posting.
Good luck with the refit.

That has to be our fourth can of WD40, David. Not surprising considering the amount of fittings we've had to remove. The project manager and the workers have all been excellent. Pleased with the work so far but it's early days yet!

I was surprised at how high on the mast the sling was placed. It made laying down the mast more difficult.

Yes - others will tell you that WD doesn't work as a freeing agent but it obviously does!
Good video btw.

We had a few other agents lined up, including the ubiquitous hammer, but it did the trick. Masts up, out and down without a hitch. It might not be the same when we put them back in after their nice shiny new Awlgrip paint job. I'm going to be running around like a clucking old woman
