Victoria Coach Station to LIBS?

Can anyone give me instructions on how to get from London Victoria coach station to Excel?

I am going next week ,the coach used to do a non scheduled stop outside Earls court which made life easy.The 60 foot gin palace on the pavement was a good landmark!

Victoria > Catch tube - Victoria Line northbound
Get off next stop > Green Park
Switch to Jubilee Line southbound > Canning Town
Catch DLR > 2 stops Custom House
You're there.

Don't worry about the change over at Canning Town, there are ExCel people there herding you on the right train.

Everybody is going to have their own opinion on the best way to do this.

My recommendation would be to take the Tube (District and Circle Line Eastbound) from Victoria, change to Jubilee Line (Eastbound) at Westminster and then change to Docklands Light Railway at Canary Wharf. Excel's about 2/3 stops along from Canary Wharf on the DLR.

Whichever way you go, I'm afraid it's gonna be more complicated than stepping off the coach. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Why isn't there a tube station at or near Victoria Coach Station, since this must be a major terminus for visitors to London.

There is, you get into the underground at Victoria Rail station, which is spitting distance from coach station.

Don't get off the Jubilee Line at Canary Wharf, stay on it til Canning Town. Canary Wharf is on a different branch of the to DLR's Custom House Station. Believe me this info was gleaned at some expense today.

Well, if you arrived by train, the walking distance to get to the actual underground is about the same in most stations platforms as from Coach terminus to undergound. Not sure how they could move it any closer

You must have followed the signs from the Coach Station! That route takes you across one road through a marble-decored shopping mall, down some steps and across another road! It's just one of many jokes that Londonners play on hick yokels and American tourists. I fell for it last month and I briefly commuted into Victoria 20+ years ago.

The trick is to walk into Victoria railway station which is about 100 yards from the Coach Station and go down the tube that way.

Actually none of London transport is geared for luggage - you'll just have to spend a fortune in a black cab.

Begging to differ

Actually, it did eventually occur to LUL that, just maybe, people arriving at LHR and wanting to take the Piccadilly Line might have the odd suitcase with them. So when the new Picc Line trains were introduced they were provided with loads of extra floor space just inside the doors. Which is great, except a) it means more people have to stand, and b) tourists worry about their smalls getting nicked and so keep their luggage on the seat next to them which means that c) even more people have to stand.
