Vics trojan battery issues

Vics thread about his Trojan batteries was interesting but has convinced me to stick with cheapo traditional batteries for a while.
It seems you need a science degree to manage them properly.
Our boat is in multiple ownership now and I am not sure that all group members will be bothered to look after them properly.
On the other hand..... would trojans survive mistreatment better? has Vic changed his view about trojans?

Not *that* difficult - just make sure they really get to full charge about once a week. Regulators going to float too early must very high up the list of battery killers.
