.. for thos who are landlocked, out of the water, or spent yesterday Xmas shopping etc.

It was a glorious day......

The obligatory wake shot, leaving Castletown.

DSC_0666_small.jpg

We made our way to Calf Sound, where the visitor centre, beloved eatery of one Major of this parish, was bathed in sunlight.

Akshully, the Calf was looking quite attractive too.

DSC_0669_small.jpg

There were seals lying about everywhere...

Now that was what I call a party.

DSC_0671_small.jpg

Some seals ventured into the water..

DSC_0673_small.jpg

and took the opportunity for a gawp at the boat..

DSC_0674_small.jpg

Here's lookin' at U, Neddie..

DSC_0675_small.jpg

They even came in pairs..

DSC_0676_small.jpg

but, just like some forumites, some old farts were just too tired to get out there and do it...

We weren't the only ones out. While I was shooting seals this chap was huntin' fish.

So we meandered back to Port St Mary, Mrs. Seagoon at the helm, and drifted a while whilst eating our picnic

DSC_0689_small.jpg

Mrs. Seagoon didn't finish hers.

And then returned to Castletown, feeling very smug that we haven't taken the boat out of the water.

Hi Paul, Mrs. Seagoon sends her best. You posting has reminded me that there was a photo I accidentally omitted.....

You will remember passing through the race at Calf Sound - while the weather was calm the currents were very strong on Saturday.

All the best, Steve

I think you've just convinced me to give the place a try /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I'm surprised you didn't comment on Neddie's very impressive wake shot in the first piccie. Just jealous?

[/ QUOTE ]I certainly do remember Calf Sound... roughest bit of water I encountered on my entire Round Britain trip!!! It was very rough on the entry to the sound on the east side and there was no calm water inshore to speak of either /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I would have done if there had been any wake!

And yes. I am jealous. In fact very jealous.

Just realised you can see the castle where they birched the scrotes. (Proves to Drew I was paying attention on his tour.)
