Hi

I think I know the answer but before I go any further:

Since we arrived in the Solent our VHF reception has become almost defunct, constant interference and very little tx/rx capability.

After changing the arial I now feel that it must be an interference issue, there's so much AIS noise and I guess that using one arial for both systems is causing the problem.

Can someone confirm that this would be likely?

Warmest regards from Ocean Village :)

Nigel,

Both seem to be working OK for us. We are certainly receiving VHF and TX worked on leaving Chichester although we haven't had cause to use the TX side since. This afternoon we were receiving plenty of traffic from Solent located ships, yachts, etc.

All the best from Lymington.

Richard.

I now suspect it's a sub standard solution for our set up and we need a twin arial set up or a faulty splitter on the AIS VHF.
I've got Hudson booked for next week to install a second arial and we will also have a fancy new weather / wind unit fitted as ann is becoming more and more obsessed with the weather.

On to Beaulieu in a couple of days and then we will wait for some high pressure before heading west. This couple of weeks south Coast cruise is turning into semi retirement!

All the best.

I have a Comar powered splitter and one aerial and that works without interference.
