VHF to cockpit spekers.

I have a new VHF on the way and I was wondering if it's possible to connect to the cockpit speakers via a car stereo? It's one of these

The answer's no, via a car stereo, but the GX1700E will drive a dedicated external speaker. A better alternative would be to get a RAM handset to fit in the cockpit, then you'd also have full control of the radio's functions from the cockpit.

Anyone need parts for a Simrad RD68 PM me.

Yes it is possible. Mine are connected to the cockpit speakers via an automatic switch which gives priority to VHF.

This is the item - but I paid a lot less than the rip-off price in that link. IIRC it was about €25.

My Standard Horizon VHF is connected to external speakers in the cockpit and at the chart table. The one in the cockpit has been there since before I bought the boat but I installed the chart table one as the speaker on my set is tiny and faces down, where it cannot be heard inside the furniture.
