With the demise of Swiftech (Simpson-Lawrence) and Sowester, does anyone know of VHF repairers, in the Solent area, able to revive my swiftech M168, which will no longer transmit?

I think SILVA have taken over the VHF's - don't know if they repair the old Swiftech ones though - would be worth a phone call.

I'd rather be sailing...

Try AW Marine in Gosport (Haslar Marina carpark) - 02392 501207 - but don't know if they do repairs to your particular set.

I'd also get a quote to ensure you don't spend more than the cost of a new set on a tricky repair!

I had the same problem with mine. Greenham Regis at Shamrock Quay repaired it for me and charged £66.10 in total for the repair - they replaced the main circuit board.

When I took it in the told me there was a £50 inspection fee and that if they concluded the set was not repairable that they would discount this of a new set bought from them - their prices are pretty competitive. I was able to set a maximum amount I was prepared to pay for the repair. The repair has a three month guarantee.

I'm very happy with their service, have no commercial tie with them and would happily recommend them.
