VHF radio interference

I have an annoying radio interference with my VHF on some channels. Unfortunately one of the channels is the one used by local fishing boats as a chat channel. I have narrowed down the culprit to my computer and USB GPS. When I turn this off I have perfect reception. I have tried a battery direct to the radio with no improvement. The radio is mounted on the deckhead above the steering position. The computer which is 240v powered is below the dash The GPS mouse is mounted below the radio about one metre away and the cable is no closer than one metre. I have been considering moving the radio to the back of the cabin which will be about 3 metres from the computer. Any comments appreciated.

Hi,

Distance between equipment is likly to help, and certianly worth experimenting with. Also worth a try is putting a RF chokes around the cables:

Thanks Anthony. That USB choke looks the go. Might look into that before I start shifting stuff about.
