I have a Nasa Clipper Naxtex which I quite like. It's quite old, but it had a new display module fitted by Nasa about 6 years ago. The unit generates interference on VHF channel 71 on handhelds - but not the main boat VHF. If I disconnect the navtex (by pulling the power lead out) then the interference stops. I haven't tried arranging an independent power source.
I tried clipping a choke onto the power lead and it seemed to make no difference.
I'm wondering if the fact that only the handhelds are affected is a clue to a solution.
Can anyone offer any ideas?
