Vhf failure - easy fix or bin

The tender has a cobra fixed vhf.
Was working earlier in the season. Still transmits well but nothing received.
When a signal is received the display shows the receiving strength bar but nothing is heard.
The squelch knob appears to have stopped function so I can't get any background noise to come up (and the bar doesn't come up either so I don't think it's the speaker)

Any suggestions?

Can you pull it apart as might be corrosion on the rotary dial?

Well I don't think I can make it any more broken.
Dunno if it's sealed - I'll have to look at pulling it out of the rib

That's how I was thinking, also you will then know the size of the hole you have to fill with your new radio!
