On my previous boat I had one VHF radio and 2 antenna with a switch like this to select the antenna to be used .

Now with AIS I would like a simular arangment but need a change over switch so I can connect either VHF radio and AIS to either antenna as one is at mast head and other is on the pushpit

Any one know of a web supplier

Why not just use the low tech approach and use bnc connectors. That reduces the possibility of a problem and reduces the chance of driving high output from VHF through the AIS.

I used male connectors on radio and ais side and female on the aerial side for the mast head aerial and the one on the pushpit. This prevented any possibility of wrong connection.

Its also a lot cheaper /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Just a note of caution. On your old set up you could switch the vhf to either of two antenna so there was always an antenna on the vhf. If you connect a coax switch so that the antenna can be switced between the vhf and the ais then take care not to operate the transmitter when the ais is selected. Many VHFs do not like transmitting into no load.

I think what he is after is a crossover switch, so that the two pieces of equipment can interchange their use of the aerials.

eg switching between:

(a) VHF to VHF aerial, AIS to AIS aerial

and

(b) VHF to AIS aerial, AIS to VHF aerial
